CHITWAN, Sept 26: The Muglin–Narayanghat road section, closed since Tuesday due to landslides at Tuin Khola in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, reopened for two-way traffic at 10:40 PM Thursday.
The Bharatpur Road Division cleared the debris using six machines from both the Muglin and Narayanghat sides, expediting the work.

Relief came for thousands of stranded passengers and vehicles, many of them Kathmandu residents heading home to celebrate Dashain, one of the country’s major Hindu festivals.
A previous landslide on Friday evening had already kept the highway shut for about 46 hours before it was cleared. Continuous slides on Tuesday afternoon again blocked the route, with a major slide recorded at 4:55 PM. About 160 meters of roadway had been buried under soil up to 25 meters deep.
Traffic police have warned that, because of lingering landslide risks and heavy traffic, travel conditions may take longer to return to normal.
