In the presence of the party chairman, Upendra Yadav, the squad members presented various combat skills like use of sticks, rope walking techniques and martial arts. They were being trained at Kachorwa, Bara, until last week. [break]
Yadav himself stayed at the training center, which lies 40 km south of Kalaiya, bordering India. Some 65 members drawn from 22 districts in the Tarai were imparted combat training by retired security personnel, the Forum claimed.
The trainers include former senior superintendent of police Sadanand Kurmi and a former assistant inspector, among others. The Forum said that the members were given political orientation as well.
Yadav said that those trained will go back to their districts and impart trainings to youths there.
"This is first phase of training and these members will train others in their respective villages," Yadav said.
He added that the newly-formed force will fight against ongoing lootings, corruption and criminal activities in the Tarai.
The members, however, did not interact with the media.
"They could have been trained in use of weapons too," a local journalist said, adding, "We were not allowed to enter the training center."
