BIRGUNJ: Central Committee (CC) meeting of the ruling Madhesi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF) concluded in this central Tarai town on Wednesday, deciding to hold the party’s second national convention on January 17-19. [break]

The party also decides to form a committee led by party chairman Upendra Yadav to review its political document for the convention. With this, the deepening rift between two camps led by party chief Yadav, who is also the Foreign Minister, and senior party leader Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta has been bridged for now.

Gupta had presented his own political paper opposing Yadav’s. The meeting couldn’t pass any of their papers. MPRF chief Yadav told a press meet that the intra-party differences have been resolved. However, Gupta was absent in the press meet. The Yadav-led review panel has party leaders Bijay Kumar Gachchhedar and Gupta as members.

The meeting also formed a five-member committee led by central leader Sharat Singh Bhandari to resolve differences in the district level.

Foreign Minister Yadav told journalists that his party won’t pull out of the government for now though the government performance is not satisfactory. “It (the government) has just completed 100 days,” he said. “There is no alternative to moving ahead correcting past mistakes.”

He also raised concerns over the delay in the army integration process. “A decision on the Maoist combatants living in the cantonments should be made immediately.”

On intra-party differences between the Yadav camp and Gupta camp, Yadav said Gupta’s feelings have also been addressed by the meeting. On the other hand, Gupta said he will see whether there will be indications about his differing views being addressed before the February convention.
