KATHMANDU, July 8: Madheshi People´s Right Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) leaders Sanjay Sah and Ramanandan Mandal, who are under attack from the party leadership for their alleged involvement in activities against party interests, said they will not attend a Central Committee (CC) meeting scheduled for Friday.

“Some 10 members of our parliamentary party are going to boycott the CC meeting,” Sah and Mandal told Republica. [break]

MPRF-D is moving to seek clarifications from its lawmakers Sah, Mandal and Karima Begum, alleging that they are trying to split the party.

Begum said she would attend the CC meeting as she wanted to learn the facts.

Asked who were going to rally behind them, Mandal said, “Let´s not put even those friends in difficulties as we have become an eyesore for the party leadership.”

He said the problem would have been resolved through the parliamentary party. “The way they are seeking clarifications from us is itself wrong,” Mandal added.

However, MPRF Chief Whip Ramjanam Chaudhari said there was no need to call the meeting of another body as the CC is the supreme body of the party.

“The party will also take action against those who boycott the CC meeting,” Chaudhari told Republica.

He said the CC meeting was called only after complaints were lodged against the three by district level leaders at the party´s disciplinary committee.

Sah and Mandal said they would make their move after assessing the party´s decision.

Sah was already suspended from the MPRF-D central committee seven months ago.
