Speaking at an interaction organized by Reporters´ Club, Nepal in the capital on Wednesday, Gachchhadar said that the leaders from various parties are joining his party. “We are doing necessary homework for unification with TMDP,” he said. [break]
Gachchhadar also said that they won´t forge any alliance with the Upendra Yadav-led MPRF Nepal. “We will forge unite and forge alliance only with like-minded parties,” he said.
Asked if the unification process was influenced by the Indian embassy, Gachchhadar questioned, “Who in Nepal is not directed by the Indian embassy?” He also added that they need support from both the neighboring countries -- India and China.
Assuring that the Khil Raj Regmi-led government would hold the elections on the scheduled date of November 19, Gachchhadar said. “We are taking initiatives to bring the Baidya- led CPN (Maoist) in HLPC. It will be my failure if I couldn´t bring them on board the election process,” he said, adding that the CPN-Maoist would eventually participate in the polls.
“Mohan Baidya is positive about participating in the CA polls and he has already demonstrated flexibility,” said Gachchhadar. He also revealed that Ashok Rai-led Federal Socialist Party was also prepared for CA polls.
He, however, said that some of the demands forwarded by the CPN-Maoist were difficult to meet. “He [Baidya] should demonstrate flexibility for the sake of nation´s stability and there can be stability only if there is CA election on the scheduled date,” he maintained.
Gachchhadar, who was addressing the interaction after the HLPC meeting held earlier in the morning, said that the government would hold election even if some of the agitating parties decided to boycott it. “Baidya´s absence in the CA poll would not make any difference,” he added.
Arguing that the parties should be ready to accept 491-member CA instead of 601-member CA, Gachchhadar said HLPC was working to increase number of seats under the proportional electoral system. “I am not in favor of holding a round table conference. But I am in favor of holding a joint meeting of all the political parties,” he said.
