KATHMANDU, Sept 16: Kamala Pant, a member of parliament (MP) from the ruling Nepali Congress, has urged all political parties to increase the candidature of women in the direct elections to the provincial assemblies and House of Representatives slated for November 20.
Speaking at the National Assembly meeting held on Friday, MP Pant also mentioned the need to increase the participation of women in direct elections to ensure good governance in the country.

She also expressed her displeasure saying that the leaders of the political parties are not ready to ensure the representation of women as provided by the constitution. MP Pant pointed out that women are capable of contesting the elections and drew the attention of the leadership of all political parties to choose candidates for the elections by imbibing that.
She also requested the chairman of the National Assembly, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina to play a leading role in increasing the participation of women in the upcoming elections according to the constitution. Pant mentioned that festivals like Dashain-Tihar are round the corner and demanded the government arrange accessible and cheap markets for the common people.
