DANG, Nov 21: Sushila Shrestha and her son Rohan Shrestha were arrested along with 20 grams of brown sugar when police raided their house in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolis-5 of Dang district at around 5:30 PM on Saturday. Police have seized 99 small packets and one big packet of 19 grams and 710 mg of brown sugar.
According to Shyamu Aryal, DSP, Area Police Office, Tulsipur, they were arrested while making packets of brown sugar. Although Sushila's house is behind the electricity office at Tulsipur Sub-metropolis-6, she is currently living in Tulsipur-5. According to the police, the mother and son both are brown sugar dealers.
DSP Aryal said that her husband Basanta Shrestha was also involved in the illegal brown sugar trading business and they are currently searching for him for further investigation into the matter.
Similarly, before arresting them, two people were arrested from Tulsipur Bus Park. 240 mg of brown sugar was recovered from Dhiraj Budhathoki, 25, of Tulsipur-5 Bus Park while 260 mg of brown sugar was recovered from Prakhyat Shah, a resident of Baruwagaun, Rural Municipality-4.
