As the birthing centre, health post and hospitals are not nearby the village, the women are forced to give births at home, said Bina Gurung, who attends pregnant during delivery.
"There are neither reliable roads nor the men folks to get help for taking women suffering labour pain to the birthing centre or hospital," she added.
Not only for delivery, but also for other cases as of fever, common cold and injury, the people here are bound to make treatment-whatever they know-at home.
"We've no option but to remember the God. The nearest hospital from the village is at Anppipal, which takes six hours to reach."
She added that there were no men folks at all- all gone out for foreign employment and to the capital city. There is huge demand of iron pills, but is supplied too little.
At such condition, the regular health check up of a pregnant woman is not practical. Although the women know that the pregnant ones must have check up at least three to four times before delivery, they don't go to health institutions for long distance.
Another local from Kerabari VDC, Bal Krishna Gurung, said they have applied at the District Public Health Office for birthing centre. But, they were yet to get that.
He complained that the people in his VDC were deprived of the medicine the government distributes freely. Gurung further said there are only date-expired medicines in the village.
According to the data maintained by the District Public Health Office, only 38 percent women visit health institutions to conduct delivery.
The district having 60 VDCs have only 35 birth centres. RSS
