The Ministry said the distribution of relief packages sent from Nepal's friends for the earthquake victims were still continuing.
At least 28 helicopters – 9 from Nepal Army, six of the private sector and 13 from the Indian Air Force – were mobilized for rescue and relief operation. Among them, 21 helicopters from Kathmandu and seven from Pokhara were making flights to Dhading, Gorkha, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Dolakha, Okhaldhunga and Ramechap districts. Likewise, rescue and relief operation is being launched from Lukla and Thame of Solukhumbu district.
At least 152 Nepali and eight foreign nationals were airlifted to safety from today's flights and 45,890 kilos of relief materials were distributed to the quake survivors.
Meanwhile, a total of 495 persons were rescued Saturday among which 335 were Nepali and 160 foreigners from various quake affected areas of the country.
The government plans to open TIA round the clock until May 5 to manage the unprecedented congestion resulting from an influx of airplanes carrying relief and rescuers and the commercial flights, which has put a strain on TIA's already overstretched capacity.
