KATHMANDU, Oct 15: The monsoon this year has petered out from most parts of Bagmati and Madhes provinces. It has already exited from Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces before this.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division said monsoon is gone from all parts of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and most of the parts of Madhesh province from Saturday.
According to the Division, it is likely to exit from the remaining parts of the country within a few days.
Monsoon exit to be delayed by a few more days
Although the monsoon is on its way out, there is a possibility of general to moderate rainfall from Monday to Wednesday due to the influence of the Westerly wind, the Division said. It said a system of Westerly wind will arrive from tonight with chances of intermittent to light rain.
Meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar said the farmers are advised not to immediately harvest their paddy crop and if they have already done so to thresh it and store it by today.
Manandhar said the weather will start improving from Wednesday only, as there will still be some days more for the monsoon's exit from the eastern region of the country. At present, the monsoon wind has a partial impact in the eastern parts only.
Normally, the monsoon should have gone away from Nepal from October 2. However, this year it is not fully gone until October 15.
Meteorologist Govinda Jha said although the sky will be clear in the afternoon, it will be somewhat hazy in the morning and evening due to atmospheric pollution and particulate matters in the air as there is no rain.
