KATHMANDU, June 21: The annual monsoon, which brings the season for paddy cultivation in the country, has officially entered Nepal on Thursday, according to Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD). This is almost 10 days late than normal.

The MFD officials said the monsoon entered Nepal from eastern part and is set to move toward western part of the country. When the monsoon becomes active, it will rain continuously for up to three days.

According to MFD, provinces 1, 2, 3 and 5 are likely to witness below normal rainfall this year as compared to the previous monsoon season. However, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudur Paschim provinces are likely to receive average rainfall this monsoon.

Generally, the monsoon enters Nepal around June 10. Meteorologists, however, said the monsoon beginning a week before or after June 10 is normal.
