Director General Kamalram Joshi said monsoon rainfall is expected to gradually spread to other regions. “The effects of the monsoon are expected to reach other regions of Nepal in some days. Currently, the westerly winds and local air currents continue to influence the rest of the country,” he added.

The DHM has forecast above-average rainfall for most parts of the country during the four-month season from June 1 to September 30.

There is a 55–65 percent probability of above-average rainfall in eastern Karnali, northern Lumbini, and most of Gandaki Province, said Joshi. In other areas like Sudurpaschim, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces, the likelihood ranges from 45 to 55 percent.

Meanwhile, the Madhesh Province has a 35 to 45 percent chance of above-average rainfall, Joshi added.
