The fraudsters are Gyan Bahadur Kshetri of Kathmnadu Metropolitan City-5, Shiva Bhurlakoti of Tehrathum Jaljale and 63-year-old Sita Devi Dhakal of Jhapa Damak. The trio had hoodwinked shopkeeper Dimpal Thapa of Kumaripati by promising her that they would make her money double.
On January 2, 2015, they had come to Kumaripati-based Dimpal's shop and put chemical on a piece of paper and placed a fake note on it before they warped it up. Next day they came to Dimpal's shop and provided her the double of what she had put on the paper. They repeatedly carried out the same procedure to take her into confidence.
On the third day, Dimpal herself asked them to double her Rs 500,000. They took the money with promises that they would come back with Rs 1000,000 to her the following day but unfortunately they never returned.
Only then she realized to have been cheated. She then had lodged a complaint at the police station.
Based on this complaint, Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur launched a manhunt to nab them and made them public after their arrest today, informed DSP Kishan Singh Thapa.
