Mom in first division, son in distinction

KATHMANDU, July 3: A mother and son have passed this year´s School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams together, with the son securing distinction and the mother in first division.



Saraswati Joshi, 33, of Bhairavsthan in Katunje VDC-2 of Bhaktapur district and her 14-year-old son Yogesh Joshi passed the exams with 71.3 and 85.1 percent marks respectively. [break]



After the news broke, many neighbors were seen thronging the Joshi home to congratulate them on their extraordinary feat.



Saraswati was a student of Jana Secondary School at Parsuna of Bara while Yogesh had appeared in the examinations from Om Secondary School in Katunje.



Accepting congratulations from friends and relatives, Saraswati said she would purse higher education in management and also work at the same time.



Yogesh expressed a wish to study medical science.



Raj Kumar Joshi said he would support both his wife and son in pursuing further studies.
