According to Anil Kumar Thakur, joint secretary of the ministry, the task force is responsible for coming up with the recommendation about what should be done to implement Industrial Policy more efficiently. [break]
“The task force has representatives from planning, administration, account and law divisions of the ministry; department of industries, department of cottage and small industries,” Thakur told Republica. “After some preparation, we will also accommodate representatives from private sector and other stake holders .”
The move came after finalizing new draft of Industrial Enterprises Act (IEA) to replace the Industrial Enterprises -1992. “Our focus is to prepare strong recommendations that will help implement the provisions of the policy,” Thakur said.
Thakur, who is also the chief of Industrial Promotion Division at the ministry, said the task force would coordinate with line ministries to get their feedback on how the Industrial Policy (IP) could be implemented more effectively. “For instance, we will discuss with Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives on how agricultural industries´ efficiency can be improved,” Thakur said.
According to Thakur, the task force will have rigorous discussions with all the divisions of the ministry and try to cover all loopholes to implement the Industrial Policy. The policy, endorsed almost two years back, has yet to get an act in line with it.
Moreover, the task force will also work on finalizing the draft of Foreign Direct Investment and One Window Policy 1992. “The task force will work to finalize the new draft of FDI policy,” Thakur said, “A team of experts which is reviewing the existing policy will also works with this task force closely.”
Ministry is also working towards providing necessary support to upcoming Investment Year 2012/13. “We will also invest our effort to provide necessary arrangements from our end to make the Investment Year successful,”
