MoEST requests CIAA to probe 43 individuals over medical sector irregularities

KATHMANDU, April 5: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has sent a formal letter to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to probe medical sector irregularities outlined in the Medical Education Investigation Commission-2074 BS report.

KATHMANDU, April 5: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has sent a formal letter to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to probe medical sector irregularities outlined in the Medical Education Investigation Commission-2074 BS report.


The report recommends taking measures to address the irregularities in the medical sector including education, affiliation, entrance exam, entrance fees, and quality control-related issues.

Education Minister Sumana Shrestha decided to dispatch the formal letter urging the CIAA to initiate the necessary action based on the report's recommendations.


The report of the commission led by former Chairperson of the Special Court, Gauri Bahadur Karki, which was kept secret for six years, was released by the MoEST on April 10.


The report has recommended action against 43 individuals, including former vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University Tirth Raj Khaniya.
