The ministry has formed a talks team and asked the teachers to withdraw all the protest programs and maintain peaceful environment in schools.
The Temporary Teachers´ Struggle Committee has announced an indefinite strike in the community school across the country demanding start of a process to make over 13,000 teachers permanent.[break]
The teachers have demanded that 13,000 temporary teacher appointed after April 24, 2006 should be given permanent appointment through internal competition.
The government in January amended the Education Regulations, which says the teachers appointed before April 24, 2006 would be eligible for competition in the vacancies announced by Teacher´s Service Commission.
The MoE Assistant Spokesperson Roj Nath Pandey said that the ministry is concerned over the teacher´s demand but an absence of parliament has halted the endorsement of the amended provisions in the Education Act 1971.
Meanwhile, the teachers are discussing whether to sit for talks with the ministry or not, said Ram Chandra Adhikari, the chairman of the struggle committee. As many as 13,135 temporary teachers have been appointed since 2006 in community schools across the country.
