“Wounded or even the people in need of emergency treatment will benefit from such hospitals,” Chief of Environment Divison of KMC, Rabinman Shrestha said, adding, “Lives can be saved if the people who have received severe injuries in an accident get immediate treatment.”
The government and KMC had assured the locals of Sisdol about installing mobile hospitals for having a landfill site in the area.
The KMC said the hospitals will deliver 24 hours emergency services. According to KMC, it will send paramedics and other staff to the hospitals whereas the Ministry of Health and Population will arrange medical doctors. He said that health workers will provide curative, surgical, preventive services under the supervision of the medical doctors.
“Doctors, paramedics and other staffers will also get special training, including safe delivery training,” Chief of the Public Health Department of KMC, Dr Baburam Gautam said. “The services will be delivered on the spot, however, if the situation gets worse, the mobile hospitals well be brought to Kathmandu so that the patients can get further treatment.”
Shrestha said that on KMC´s request, the Chinese government provided 5 advanced mobile hospitals last year. The KMC said remaining three hospitals will be operated in Kathmandu. The Chinese government has provided 108 vehicles to the KMC including the mobile hospitals.
