MUGU, July 23: An angry school principal thrashed Mugu's District Education officer, Jawaharlal Hamal, last night.

Nepal Rastriya Secondary School, Murma's Principal, Bikram Bahadur Shahi, attacked Hamal at latter's residence.

The local of Murma and the school's administrative board members had sent a written application to DEO Hamal charging Principal Shahi of economic irregularities in school and asking for arrangement of a separate teacher to oversee the school's financial aspect.

DEO Hamal responded to the letter by arranging for a separate teacher for overseeing the management of the school's account.

The enraged and inebriated Principal took along with him a gang of six to seven men to attack the DEO. The mob led by the school principal also destroyed DEO's laptop and vandalized his door.

The police arrested Shahi from his house in Gamgadhi following the incident the same night.

A complaint has been filed with the anti-graft body, Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), with accusations that the Principal had embezzled with the teachers' allowance and the budget allocated for lunch and construction among other subjects.

Last year, Shahi had withdrawn money from a different person's account at the Mugu-based Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) in cahoots with the employees of the bank. RSS
