MUGU, May 9: In the absence of security personnel, the border police post in Karmarong Rural Municipality-2 of Mugu, which is adjoined to the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China, has turned into a shed for cattle since last November.
MUGU, April 1: The number of tourists visiting Rara Lake in Mugu district is rising steadily. According to data of Rara National Park Office, over 15,000 have visited Rara Lake till March. Local stakeholders say the number of visitors is rising at a satisfactory rate, thanks to promotion of the area as a tourist destination.
MUGU, March 31: Dozens of houses at Riga village situated in the western part of the district are at high risk of landslides. Residents of this village, which is part of the Khatyad Rural Municipality, say that they have seen signs of impending disaster.
RARA, March 28: A woman who had been facing problems giving birth since the past three days was airlifted from Khatyad rural municipality, in the western region of the district. Lalita Thapa,22, of Thamlekha in ward no. 8 of the rural municipality was airlifted by a Nepali Army helicopter to the regional hospital in Surkhet today.

MUGU, Feb 5: With the coordination of various government authorities, District Health Office (DHO), Mugu has announced to extend its safe medical abortion service in the rural parts of the district. However, the negligence of women, especially in remote areas, has made it challenging for DHO to provide the service.
HUMLA, Jan 21: For the past 10 days, the Biplav led Maoist faction have seized daily food supplies and 300 mules in Humla and Mugu. The move comes after local administration collected tax during transportation.
KATHMANDU, Dec 8: With only 600 votes to be counted, the left alliance is likely to win at Mugu. So far, the alliance has received 12,460. Nepali Congress has received 9,432, Naya Shakti: 98, A total of 624 votes have been counted as termed invalid.
MUGU, Dec 3: About a dozen people have died due to viral fever outbreak in Mugu district within a week. Children and elderly alike are suffering from cough, cold, pneumonia and viral fever in the district as the temperature continues to drop in the mountainous region.
MUGU, Nov 26: Just a day before the first phase of parliamentary and provincial elections, the District Election Office of Mugu has expressed concern that some of the ballot boxes in the polling centers of the district are still exposed to the risk of being captured.
MUGU, May 18: Nepali Congress candidate Hari Jung Shahi has been elected to the post of Mayor of Chhayanath Rara Municipality in Mugu district with 3,560 votes.
His closest rival, Jit Bahadur Malla, of CPN (UML) received 3,441 votes.
MUGU, Feb 20: Four thousand new voters have been added to the voters' list in Mugu district since the Constituent Assembly election 2014. There were 23, 821 voters in 24 VDCs of the district. The number of voters has increased to 28,000, according to the district office of the Election Commission.
MUGU, Jan 3: Villages in the eastern part of Mugu district are considered rich in wildlife. However, of late, wildlife population, especially that of deer and tiger, is fast declining. Locals put the blame on poachers and lack of adequate security measures along the border.
MUGU, July 13: Locals of Mugu district have seen lots of road construction projects of late. Millions of budgets have been allocated for such projects since the past few years. Recently, road constructions completed in the district headquarters Gamgadhi and about half-a-dozen other Village Development Committees (VDCs) nearby.
