Mixed day for Trinity in basketball

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Trinity College saw mixed results on Monday during the Third U-19 Whitehouse Cup National Basketball Championship.



Trinity defeated Golden Gate 44-34 in the match of boys´ category while they lost to Xavier International 12-39 in the girls´ category. [break]



Trinity maintained the early lead in the boys´ match and took an 11-8 lead in the opening quarter. Trinity scored 13 in the second quarter against Golden Gate´s 10. Golden Gate showed some resistance in the third quarter and scored 9 against 6. Trinity, however, maintained a 14-7 lead in the final quarter and won the match. Nuwang Kunga Sherpa scored the highest 13 points for the winning side.



In the girls´ category, Xavier dominated Trinity. Xavier took a 12-8 lead in the first quarter and added 13 more points in the second quarter in which Trinity could not score a single point. The third quarter score was 2-2. Xavier, however, scored 12 in the final quarter where Trinity scored just 2 and lost the match. Sima Karki scored 17 points for Xavier.



Golden Gate received walkover from Kathmandu Academy in the girls´ category of the championship organized by Nepal Basketball Association and sponsored by Himalayan White House College.
