Ministry directs local levels for making enrollment campaign successful

KATHMANDU, April 11: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has directed all local levels for making the school enrollment campaign commencing from Monday successful. The secretary-level meeting of ministry gave the direction through the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration. All the local levels have been instructed to include all school age children in the campaign.

According to Ministry’s under-secretary Bidur Raj Giri, local levels have been asked to organize school and community-based programmes till April 28 and target-group based special home visit programmes April 28 to May 4 supporting the campaign.

The local governments are told to enroll a child completing four years of age in the primary child education class and make arrangements for providing regular and alternative learning opportunities for every people above the school age group but deprived of regular school education opportunities.

Similarly, instruction has been given for making provisions to manage a learning platform all children with special needs and free enrollment as per their age groups. Instructions have also been given urging local levels for enactment of action plans and implementation of such plans (by local levels) to retain students.

The local governments have been asked to display the slogan “Our town, our village, let us take all children to school” on their official websites. The ministry has sought arrangements for broadcasting and publishing public message and notice, articles, lyrics and write-ups supporting the campaign in local radio, FM and newspapers including in local language; calling upon all social activists, social workers, political activists, and interested people and organizations to be part of the campaign. The school enrollment campaign targeting the new academic session has been the government regular calendar since 2061 BS.
