Agitating Nanda Prasad and Ganga Maya Adhikari, who broke their fast-unto-death protest Saturday midnight, were on hunger strike for the past 47 days demanding punishment to all the guilty involved in the murder of their son Krishna Prasad. The family has demanded arrest of all 11 accused behind the murder, which took place in 2004 during the insurgency.
UCPN (Maoist) enforced strikes in Kathmandu, Chitwan and Gorkha on Saturday to protest the arrest of one of the 11 accused in Adhikari´s murder. The government´s decision comes in the wake of fears expressed by victim family that the government may leave the investigation process apparently under pressure from the Maoists.
