Amid ongoing controversy over allegations that the Finance Minister has repeatedly altered provisions of the Financial Bill, the government secured approval of the Appropriation Bill. Several lawmakers have accused the government of frequently amending tax rates even after presenting the budget in Parliament, while others have expressed dissatisfaction over what they describe as “unjust” budget allocation to local levels and across sectors.

The Appropriation Bill passed by the HoR will now be forwarded to the National Assembly. Once approved by the upper house, it will come into force after certification by the President, allowing the government to spend funds allocated under the annual budget.
