Ministerial portfolios finalized for CPN (Unified Socialist), JSP and LSP

KATHMANDU, March 31: Ruling parties have finalized the number of ministerial portfolios to CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP). 

Prime Minister Dahal has requested the alliance partners to provide the names of ministers from their party by 1 pm. Preparations have been made to administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers at 3 pm today.

On Thursday, the ruling parties finalized the number of ministries for nine parties that will join the government. 

The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) will get eight ministers, CPN (Maoist Center) five, CPN (Unified Socialist) two, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) two and Janmaat Party two including  a state minister. Similarly, LSP, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Aam Janata Party and Nepal Sadbhawana Party will get one each ministry.

Sources said there has been a delay in the expansion of the cabinet as the matter of allotment of ministries to some parties is yet to be finalized. As per the agreement, NC will get the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Defense. 

The party is likely to join the government under the leadership of Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka. The names of the remaining ministries are yet to be finalized, according to NC leaders. 

Sources close to the Unified Socialist said that it is certain that Prakash Jwala will get the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Beduram Bhusal the Ministry of Agriculture. 

Similarly, Narayankaji Shrestha, who is currently holding the position as the minister for physical infrastructure, is likely to be sent to the home ministry. Likewise, Sharat Singh Bhandari of LSP will get the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav said that JSP will get the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Forest and Environment.
