MYAGDI (REPUBLICA): Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel said that the trend of teachers entering school premises with political motive would be brought to an end. He stressed the need to select teachers on the basis of their qualification rather than under pressure from political parties. “Teachers are not supposed to bring in their political ideologies into classrooms. Such teachers who are more dedicated to politics than their teaching occupation should resign. We'll start implementing this initiative by asking teachers affiliated to our party to keep teaching and their political beliefs separate,” said Minister Pokharel, speaking in Myagdi, on Friday morning. “It is the responsibility of teachers to fulfill the rights to education of students. Therefore, teachers should dedicate themselves fully to that responsibility,” he added. Stating that the country's education system was reeling under various problems, the minister urged all the schools to cooperate with the ministry in their endeavors to uproot those problems.
