He also asked them not to make an issue out of the registrar´s appointment as it was a political issue. “The government is positive about their demands,” Chaudhary said.
Minister Chaudhary said he would hold talks with them as soon as he returned to the capital. “I´ve entrusted the state minister for talks with the nurses. The problem will be resolved soon.”
The Nepal Nursing Association (NNA) halted its services throughout the country from Tuesday demanding implementation of the 6-point agreement it reached with the government in the past. Though the government formed a secretary-level talks´ team, the NNA has stated that it would only hold talks with the minister. The nurses have warned that they would also halt emergency services, if the government didn´t address their demands at the earliest.
Minister warns of action
Meanwhile, State Minister for General Administration Jeetu Gautam has warned that the government would take action against the agitating nurses if they did not come for talks.
"The problem will be solved through talks, not from the streets," Gautam told journalists at a function in Ghorahi of Dang on Friday, "Or else the government will take action against them."
