Local authorities, including the chief district officer, were completely unaware of Bhattari´s trip to the district.
Following the state minister´s arrival, some NC cadres gathered at the party office. “I am contesting for the post of central working committee member. I am here to ask for your votes. I also request you all to support Koirala (Sushil) for the post of party president,” President of Nepal Women Association Lila Rai quoted Bhattarai as saying at the meeting.
In his brief comments with the journalists, Bhattarai said, “I am here after inspecting electricity office in Siraha and Saptari.” Chief District Officer of Udayapur Basanta Upadhyaya said he was unaware of state minister´s trip to the district. “We should have been informed at least for security reasons," Upadhyaya said.
NC district President Himal Karki said he was also unaware of Bhattarai´s trip to the district. Karki is currently in Kathmandu.
