KATHMANDU, Jan 23: A team led by Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Parbat Gurung has reached Dailekh to inspect the government campaign against Chhaupadi tradition [banishing menstruating women to a shed] on Tuesday.
The team comprises parliamentarians and ministry staffers. The team also organized an interaction on 'Chhaupadi' in Dullu of Dailekh on Tuesday.
Though the government demolished more than 300 menstruation sheds in the region, women in the province have started to stay in animal sheds. “After knowing that the women have started staying in animal shelter, we have reached the province to make the women aware about the consequences of the 'bad practice'” he said.
