KATHMANDU, June 11: Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Pampha Bhusal has urged the newly-elected people's representatives to serve the public while also undertaking preservation and promotion of local identities.
At a program organized here today to congratulate the newly-elected people's representatives of Mahalaxmi Municipality-6, Minister Bhusal said, "The people's representatives are not rulers, they are instead servants. Be diligent to meet the basic needs of the people."
Appealing to pay attention to the conservation of arts, culture and identities, Bhusal asserted that development works should be taken forward by promoting one's own traditional identities.

She viewed that programs should be devised and implemented from ward to municipality level for tourism promotion, stating that tourism was the basis of the economic development of Mahalaxmi town.
The minister argued that the local people's representatives should pay attention to health and education and underscored enhancing education quality in community schools and making healthcare services accessible and affordable for the public.
Echoing Minister Bhusal, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Sashi Shrestha suggested to the newly-elected representatives to take forward development works fulfilling the needs of the people.
Likewise, Janata Samajwadi Party's leader Nawaraj Subedi suggested the people's representatives identify the needs of the public and implement programs accordingly.
Similarly, the newly-elected ward chairperson Dharma Maharjan extended his gratitude to the people for electing him to the post and pledged to meet their expectations.
