KATHMANDU, Jan 26: The minimum temperature in Kathmandu has dropped to 3 degrees Celsius, making it feel colder than the previous day. As of 6:30 AM this Friday, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu was 3.4 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology on Thursday evening, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu was recorded at 3 degrees Celsius. This marks the lowest temperature so far this winter.

Earlier, on the evening of January 22, the minimum temperature of Kathmandu was measured at 3.2 degrees Celsius.

Nepal is currently experiencing a partial effect of westerly winds, contributing to the cold weather along with the presence of cold clouds at higher altitudes. Consequently, the winter chill has intensified compared to previous days.

However, since there has been no winter rain for a long time, this year’s winter is milder than previous years. Meteorologists say that if it rains, the minimum temperature of Kathmandu will decrease and the winter will be more severe. But meteorologists forecast that there is no chance of rain for the next three days.

In December 2018, the minimum temperature of Kathmandu dropped to 1 degree Celsius. In 1978, there is a record that the minimum temperature of Kathmandu reached a minimum temperature below zero.
