“We were disappointed with the performance of the first two editions of SofTech. The success this year has encouraged us to make the next edition even bigger,” CAN President Suresh K Karna told myrepublica.com. He also said the event had become successful in meeting the objectives set by CAN.

Constituent Assembly Member Brinda Pandey, who visited the event along with some other lawmakers on Saturday, said she was very excited to know about software development in the country.

“Events like these are important to inform people about the recent developments in software industry and also to update one´s knowledge on information technology,” Pandey added.

Midas CAN SofTech showcased software developed for sectors like education, banking and health to even household purpose. Thirty-five software companies, along with educational and government institutions, had participated in the event.

Karna expressed his happiness for becoming successful in relaying the message regarding software development to greater mass. “We had limited target audience. But we are happy with the response that we have received from different sectors,” Karna added.

He also said the event has become successful in informing people that the use of software is not limited to banking purpose and could be used in other activities for income generation.

Though the number of software developers in the country has increased significantly in the recent years, banking, hospitality industries and a few educational institutions are considered the potential clients of the software industry.

Kishor Pant, second vice president of CAN, said software could be used to help people in agriculture, farming, teaching and other purposes as well.

The stall of Midas Technologies, which was also the title sponsor of the event, was one of the major crowd pullers of the four-day event.

Educational software development by Midas was appreciated by teachers and students alike. Stalls of anti-virus products were also able to attract significant number of visitors and record emphatic sale. Student projects and newly launched banking software ´pumoree plus´ also became successful in drawing people´s attention.
