ACHHAM, Nov 26: Menstruating females are restricted using toilets in Achham.
Male and elder female members of villages in the district have decided to restrict females during menstruation and during post-delivery period using toilets.
16 years old Ramita Saud have a toilet near to her house. All the members of family use toilets, but Ramita is barred from using toilets in the menstruating period.
She has to stay away from the house during menstruation. She said, “It is during menstruation and delivery that we need toilets more than ever. But the society restricts us from using.”
According to the data of District Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Coordination Committee, there is 68 percent of female have been barred from using toilets during menstruation cycle.
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is being celebrated across the country. However, the women in this district are very far from this campaign.
