The 29-year-old actress, who filed divorce papers in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason of their separation, reported Ace Showbiz.
The former "Transformers" leading lady is seeking joint physical and legal custody of their two sons; Noah, 2 years old, and Bodhi, 18 months.
Fox listed the date of their separation as June 15 despite recent speculation that they quietly split six months ago.
They reportedly did not sign a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot in 2010. She has allegedly hired divorce lawyer Laura Wasser.
Fox and Green first met on the set of the ABC sitcom "Hope & Faith" in 2004. Neither have said a word on their split.
