KATHMANDU, June 13: The meeting of top leaders of four parties has ended inconclusively on Tuesday evening.
At a time when Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) has been demanding the constitution amendment prior to the election process, PM Sher Bahadur Deuba called up leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) and Madhesi People's Right Forum- Democratic (MPRF-D) for the meeting.
However, the meeting, held at the chamber of the Speaker in Singha Durbar, could not find the conclusive point to address the demand of the agitating RJPN.
During the meeting, the proposal of postpone of the election was put forward.

While emerging out from the meeting, Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel said that the meeting is focused on to convince Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) in the upcoming second phase of local level elections instead of postponing the elections.
Talking with the media persons after the meeting, CPN-UML chairperson KP Sharma Oli claimed that the government has indirectly proposed to postpone the second phase of the election for the fourth time.
Reiterating the party’s stand, CPN-UML, however, has rejected the proposal, said Oli. Chair Oli added that the ruling coalition is not confident about holding the election on slated date June 28.
“The election should be on June 28. We cannot reschedule the date repeatedly. Still there are two more elections to be conducted by January for which the government should be more focused”, said Oli.
“It is not clear whether RJPN is not willing to participate in the election or the government is making excuse in the name of RJPN to avoid the election”, accused Oli.
Meanwhile, CPN (MC) leader Barsha Man Pun said that the next meeting of top four parties will be held on Wednesday at 4 pm with the leaders of RJPN, adding that the parties will ask the RJPN for their commitment to participate in the election in written form.
However, the demand of RJPN for the amendment of the constitution is not possible before the election, said Pun, adding that the four parties will consider the other technical demands of RJPN to ensure their involvement in the election.
He reiterated that the government and the Election Commission are fully committed to hold the election on slated date.
Prime Minister Deuba called the meeting of the top leaders to discuss about the recent political situation after the RJPN decided to boycott and disrupt the second phase of the local level election.
