KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Prime Minister KP Oli has accused the media of coming under the influence of ‘blackmailers’ in hounding the government decision to provide land of Nepal Trust in various places to the Yeti Group.
Without mentioning the name of any media organization, Oli alleged that that the media is working to curry favor with ‘blackmailers’.
“Blackmailers have been futile in their blackmailing. Are we to run after such types? Are we lobbying to close down the Gokarna Forest Resort?” asked Oli at the central committee meeting of the NCP on Wednesday.
He also defended the government decision to lease the Nepal Trust lands to Yeti Group claiming that the lease agreements meet all legal requirements.
He further claimed that there is no point in criticizing the decision to lease the Gokarna Forest Resort to the Yeti Group arguing that the resort was on the verge of closure after the foreign firm managing it suffered losses due to the Maoist insurgency.
The prime minister further claimed that he has no special friendship with the Yeti Group as alleged by the media.
