The mechanized bridge was built with the objective to ease people´s lives and increase economic activities. It can carry 16 people at one time.

“Around 800 people are crossing the Kali Gandaki River every day using this bridge,” Bhoj Raj Giri, operator of the mechanized bridge, said.

The mechanized bridge was built with an investment of Rs 50 million as per the public-private partnership model.

Giri said the mechanized bridge will directly benefit locals of around 16 VDCs of Parbat and Baglung.

“As it is one of the major attractions in the district, we hope it will also lure foreign tourists. We are hopeful that it will encourage authorities concerned to resume operation of flights at Baleba airport,” added Giri.
