MCC capable of serving nation's interest: Spokesperson Shrestha

GALKOT, Jan 19: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said the former UML and Maoist had already become history and the party could no more be operated on a division.


In his address to a press meet organised by the Press Organization Nepal, Baglung chapter here today, the leader who is also the NCP secretariat member said a candidate for the post of Speaker at House of Representatives should be picked on the basis of competency. "The UML and the Maoist parties have become history," and the party would not run after the issue of division, he further argued.

Giving his opinion about the much-talked Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) relating to the US assistance, he said, "Its contribution will be positive one as it is in the favaour of the interest of nation." As he said, none is expected to exaggerate it and the party would endorse it univocally. He expressed his confidence that the Deputy Speaker would resign to pave the way for party to secure the post of Speaker. The House impasse would end soon. The party would convince the Deputy Speaker to resign from the post so that it would create post for the Speaker as per the constitutional provision.


Shrestha is also the candidate for the upcoming National Assembly election from the Gandaki State said his candidacy was in line with the party interests. He is arrived here for the election publicity campaign.
