RUPANDEHI, Feb 18: Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chair Kamal Thapa has said the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) related to the US assistance is in the interest of Nepal.

Speaking at a press meet organised at Butwal by the RPP Province 5 Committee today, he said though the US proposed assistance was capable of meeting the national interest, citizens had doubt over it and the situation demanded the government come up with its official view on the MCC agreement.

"The government is expected to address misconceptions in regard to the MCC agreement."As he said, though the government failed to deliver as per the people's expectations, it will complete its full five-year term. "People are fed up with political instability in the past and they are no more interested in changing the government," he said, adding, "People want a stable government." He took time to claim that the party was in the mission of establishing itself as a leading political party by taking a lesson from past defeats and unlearning past faults and weaknesses.

The RPP Chair was of the opinion that the RPP should not be viewed just on the basis of its agenda for the Hindu state and reinstating the institution of monarchy. The party's understanding was that the institution of monarchy as a common national institution was needed for national unity, peace, and stability; therefore, the agenda should not be dragged into a political dispute
