Lalitpur, July 29: Lalitpur Metropolitan City has announced the plan to arrange a shuttle bus service at Central Zoo in Jawalakhel.

Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiribabu Maharjan, has announced that he will arrange a shuttle bus soon with the aim of making it easy for senior citizens and people with disabilities to visit the zoo. Speaking at a program held in Lalitpur on Saturday on the occasion of World Tiger Day, he said that the 14-15-seater shuttle bus will be operated and necessary arrangements will be made so that the senior citizens and disabled people can visit the zoo.

Mayor Maharjan also expressed his commitment to build a tiger gate in front of the zoo within the current fiscal year. He said that since the Tiger Gate was demolished many years ago, he is going to rebuild it.

Mayor Maharjan said that there used to be sweet shops owned by Bhaktaraj Rajakarnikar before entering Jawalakhel. There were two gates, which we used to call ‘Tiger Gate’. The original Tiger Gate was adorned with two tiger statues, he added. Mayor Maharjan said he will rebuild the gate as a symbol representing the zoo.

In the program, Mayor Maharjan said that he will help in the conservation of the pond inside the zoo. In the program, the National Trust for Nature Conservation honored Mayor Maharjan for his significant contribution in the field of environmental protection.
