Massive fire erupts in Kahun Danda of Pokhara

POKHARA, March 19: A massive fire broke out in Pokhara's Kahun Danda on Monday evening. 

The fire, which started at 7 pm, was not brought under control until late at night. A fire broke out in the forest of Kahun in Pokhara Metropolitan City-11. Information Officer at District Police Office, Kaski, Police Inspector Tilak Manandhar said that Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel were mobilized to control the fire.

Manandhar said it is not easy to control the fire. He said that special precautions have been taken to safeguard nearby settlements. He said that there was a fire in the upper part of Manipal Teaching Hospital. 

Manandhar said that the fire broke out in the terrain of Khayan area. As there is a fear of fire in the Manipal Hospital area, additional security personnel including fire brigades have been mobilized there.

Dhanraj Acharya, Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, said that efforts are being made to control the fire. According to him, two fire engines have been mobilized. According to him, fire broke out in 7 places around Pokhara on Monday. He said that preparations are also being made to send fire engines from Pokhara International Airport.

According to Mayor Acharya, fire broke out in many areas around Pokhara on Sunday as well. "There has been a terrible fire. It has not yet been brought under control. Security personnel have been mobilized," Mayor Acharya said. 

Mayor Acharya said even though the fire brigade was deployed, firefighting effort is not easy due to challenging terrain and narrow roads.
