Maoists to announce protest if no consensus by Friday afternoon

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Unified CPN (Maoist) on Thursday has decided to launch extensive protest program if the top parties do not reach consensus by Friday afternoon.



“We waited for Dashain and Tihar,” party spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said. “If they do not agree on joint motion draft by 11 a.m. on Friday, we will announce an extensive protest program.”



A taskforce, consisting of Maoists’ Dev Gurung, Nepali Congress’ Arjun Narsingh KC and CPN-UML’s Yubaraj Gyawali is meeting at Singha Durbar Thursday afternoon to decide on the joint motion draft.
