SINDHULIMADHI, Oct. 11: All three cadres of Nepali Congress taken captive by the cadres of UCPN (Maoist) on Thursday morning including central member of Tarun Dal Nabraj Shrestha have been released by police.
UCPN (Maoist) cadres had abducted Shrestha and two other NC cadres from Kalpabriksha VDC in the district after plotting a passenger bus accident. A team of police led by police inspector Dilip Jha released the abducted cadres successfully. [break]
According to the police, the abducted were released from a jungle near Mathauli of the same VDC.
Nearly a dozen NC cadres including Dilip Adhikari, Ganesh Thapa, Nabraj Basnet, Baikuntha Mainali and others were injured after the Maoist cadres beat them up.
Similarly, cadres of both parties were injured after a clash ensued in the district headquarters in the afternoon.
Chief District Officer Keshavraj Aryal said that efforts were underway to resolve the debate through talks as tension has decreased gradually.
On Wednesday too, the cadres of both parties had engaged in a conflict at Mathauli over the issue of road reconstruction and ticket counter of public vehicles and the same issue resurfaced resulting in conflicts in Mathauli and the district headquarters Sindhulimadhi.

JANAKPUR: Tension gripped a remote village in Sindhuli following a clash between cadres of UCPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress (NC) on Thursday.
The altercation ensued after Maoist cadres manhandled NC cadres, a day earlier, after failing to reach an agreement regarding construction of a road in remote Kalpavikshya VDC, Mathauli of Sindhuli. [break]
Nawaraj Devkota of UCPN (Maoist) and Pawan Thapa Magar of NC have sustained serious injuries in the clash. Similarly, Dilip Adhikari, Ganesh Thapa, Nawaraj Basnet and Baikuntha Mainali have also been injured in the incident.
The injured are undergoing treatment at the district hospital, Sindhuli, informed media person Dilip Poudel.
The dispute took a nasty turn today after NC cadres took out a protest rally, accusing the Maoists of abducting their two friends, Nawaraj Shrestha and Kancha Man Bal.
According to District Police Chief DSP Sanu Ram Bhattarai, the two persons´ whereabouts are still not known.
A police team has been deployed to search and rescue them, he said.
However, the Maoist cadres have denied their role in the duo´s disappearance.
Meanwhile, three persons have been injured in a bus accident in the same locality this afternoon. An ambulance has been sent to rush the injured to a hospital, DSP Bhattarai informed.
Some Maoist cadres had shot at the tyre of the bus to cause the accident, claimed NC district secretary Upendra Pokharel.
Police are investigating the cases.
