Maoists obstructing voter registration process chased away

DANG, March 26: Police on Tuesday chased away CPN-Maoist cadres obstructing voter registration process at Dhanuari VDC of Dang district.



A team of the police officer was deputed in the area after they were informed a group of Maoist cadres were disrupted registration. "Maoists disrupted voters´ registration process today," Chief District Officer (CDO) Abdul Kalaam Kha said, "The process has been resumed after the police drove them away."[break]



The local administration said that the registration processes are being conducted amid a tight security in seven VDCs and one municipality of the district.



"A team of 12 police officers under inspector has been deputed in each VDC," the CDO said. Earlier, there were only three police personnel.



Meanwhile, the CPN-Maoist cadres have ‘warned’ enumerators to halt the ongoing process and return. "We have suggested the enumerators to halt the process," District Secretary of the party Shital said.
