Maoists objects to cadres' arrest

JANAKPUR, Nov 20: UCPN (Maoist) Dhanusa District Committee has taken strong exception to the arrest of two of its cadres for their alleged involvement in the murder of own party cadre.



It has accused the government of trying to create a rift within the party by arresting Mithila State Committee members of the party Pramod Karn and Ratish Dutt on the charge of killing Maoist cadre Mukesh Dutt. [break]



Maoist district leaders also served a 10-day ultimatum and warned of stringent protests if the local police did not mend its ways.



Maoist district in-charge Roshan Janakpuri said the police have been carrying out “baseless” investigations.



He also said the party will carry out a separate investigation into the incident after the Gorkha plenum.



Dutt was murdered on November 17 while he was celebrating Chatt festival.



Family of the deceased had lodged a complaint against Karn and Dutt in connection with the murder.
