Speaking to journalists at a press meet organized by Press Union, Dhankuta, the NC central working committee member said political parties have to urgently act now to end the prolonged transitional period and prevent the country from being a failed nation-state. [break]
Stating that constitutional bodies are currently without their heads, and police administrating have become ‘useless’ and even the Nepal Army have become ‘power-centric’, Koirala said the entire onus now lies with the country´s judiciary and press to fare the impending disaster safely.
The NC leader also described the ruling Maoist party’s threat to trash the 2006 comprehensive peace accord as ‘monkey’ tendency and said the ruling party’s recent statement about themselves going to hit the streets is a ridiculous idea.
Likewise, Koirala called for broader unity among ‘democratic’ forces to launch a collective mass movement against government till its ouster. He also said the current rift between Maoist leaders is just a temporary sight to see.
“Once the Maoist party is out of the government, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Baburam Bhattarai and Mohan Baidya will come all in one place, “Koirala said.
Asked about tenability of royal comeback and removal of the ‘Federal Democratic’ phrase from the new constitution, Koirala said the ideas are as absurd as that of a river tracing back its own course.
A unity government and fresh Constituent Assembly elections are the current terms for political agreement, Koirala said, adding that his party is for annulling all endorsements made by the erstwhile CA and for going to fresh CA elections.
