KATHMANDU, Aug 9: As part of their protest program, Maoists held a rally at Maitighar Mandala on Sunday afternoon. Protesting against what they call the extra-constitution move of President Ram baran Yadav to reinstate Chief of Army Staff Rookmangud Katawal, the Maoists have announced two-month long protests. On Sunday, they held demonstrations in the district headquarters across the country.
"We will continue our protests in the parliament and on the streets until the government addresses our demand for civilian supremacy," said Maoist spokesperson Dinanath Sharma. On Friday, they also obstructed the legislature-parliament. The Maoist party has demanded the president´s move be discussed in the parliament.
