DOTI, June 14: Maoists have boycotted the 14th district council meeting in Doti that began Thursday.

The Maoists boycotted the meeting saying that the Constituent Assembly member from their party Khem Bam was not invited to the dais during the inauguration meeting despite an earlier agreement to invite all three CA members from the district.

Maoist district secretary Bibek held a press meeting and said that all former people´s representatives were invited to the podium except for Bam. “We think they looked down on us in not inviting the CA member to the dais,” he said. Bam was not present during the inauguration, but the Maoists said the organizers even did not bother to call his name.

The meeting was supposed to be held four months ago, but could not take place due to disputes.

Women representatives also expressed objection as woman CA member Kalpana Sopa was not invited to the meeting. They said Sopa was in the district but she was not invited.
