Maoists beat up 2 'for supporting NC'

MAHENDRANAGAR, April 13: Locals of Dodhara in Kanchanpur district have risen up against Maoists after some Maoist cadres beat up two youths for allegedly supporting Nepali Congress (NC) in the April 10 by-election in Kanchanpur-4 constituency.



The locals have also padlocked the local Area Police Office, accusing the latter of not providing security. The protesters have shut down Dodhara. The Maoist cadres had allegedly beaten up Lalit Singh and Tara Budha, leaving them seriously injured.



On Saturday night too, the Maoists had neaten up an NC supporter, Raju Giri on the same charges.



Maoist’s Harish Thakulla had beaten Yagya Raj Joshi of NC by 788 votes to secure a berth in the 601-member Constituent Assembly.
