Maoists absent at Special Committee meet

KATHMANDU, July 5: A meeting of the Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of the Maoist Combatants ended Monday without even taking up the agenda as the UCPN (Maoist) members were absent.



"Prime minister and the coordinator of the committee Jhalanath Khanal briefed the committee about the progress made this week and the meeting ended without entering the agenda,´´ Jitendra Dev, a member of the committee told Republica.[break]



Another member of the committee Dr Ram Sharan Mahat said meetings of the committee will be fruitless until political disputes among parties are resolved.



Maoist leaders Barshaman Pun and Janardan Sharma are members of th committee from the UCPN (Maoist).



Last six meetings of the committee have ended in a similar fashion.
